Becoming Truly Human

It is with great excitement that I announce the upcoming opportunity to view the Orthodox Feature Film, Becoming Truly Human.

BECOMING TRULY HUMAN is a documentary film that explores the rise of the ‘nones,’ those that claim no religious affiliation. As of 2015, surveys report that this growing segment consists of 25% of the U.S. population. This trend has been met with enthusiasm from atheists and concern from religious groups.

BECOMING TRULY HUMAN challenges both responses by providing an alternative perspective on the ‘nones’ — as individuals on a spiritual journey with an unknown destination. The film offers seven cinematic portraits of ‘nones’ alongside the story of one whose path leads to Eastern Orthodoxy, in order to offer a picture of nones defined not by unaffiliation but by a search for something deeper than the religion of their youth.

A trailer for the film is available: Becoming Truly Human Trailer.

There will be three opportunities to watch the film. Each of the screenings will be followed by a Q & A with the writer/director Nathan Jacobs. There is no cost to attend though a ticket is required. This event is being co-sponsored by all three Orthodox Churches in Memphis: St John, Annunciation and St. George. The Malco Theater is graciously offering the space for the screenings.

Mark your calendar and help spread the word and invite a friend to any one of the three opportunities to watch this wonderful movie:
