Memory Eternal! – Updated

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS may be found on the Antiochian Archdiocese website.

It is with deep sadness and hope in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ that I write to inform you  of the passing into eternal life of our beloved Bishop ANTOUN.  He reposed in the Lord this morning, October 2.  Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Bishop ANTOUN is a wonderful example of a servant.  He dedicated his entire life to the service of Christ and His Church.  Bishop ANTOUN first entered the seminary  at the age of 14, in 1945, and never looked back.  He began his ministry serving under Patriarch Alexander III, was then assigned as a deacon in Brazil and finally came to the United States in 1959.  He served as a priest from 1960 until he was consecrated as  bishop in 1983, serving in that role until his retirement just this summer.  During that time, he made a number of visits to Memphis, including his visit to us last year.  It was by his hand that most of our clergy were ordained.

May the Lord grant rest to the soul of His servant, Bishop ANTOUN!  Memory eternal!
